Dynamic Training UK are working with Skills for Care, Skills for Health, Progress South Central, UKHCA and other partners to design a Domiciliary Care training pathway, that specifically meets the needs of the Dom Care (Home Care) worker. This exciting and innovative project funded by Progress South Central, will ensure for the first time that the specific training needs of the Domiciliary Care workforce are fully considered and realised.
Through the personalisation agenda individuals have more choice with regards to how they will be supported. The Domiciliary Care Worker will be required to have ever increasing skills in order to meet the ever changing needs and demands of the individuals they support. People are living longer and choosing to remain in their own homes and as individual health needs increase, it will be essential that appropriate, high quality care can be provided.
The project is well underway with the first steering group held on the 10th Nov 09 and all three working groups going well, in Surrey, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.
Some of our partners include Bracknell and Wokingham College, Reading LA, Home instead domiciliary care agency, Mac Care agency, Glenore Homecare, Campbell’s care agency, Berkshire and Surrey Care Associations, UKHCA (UK Home Care Association), Skills for Care and Skills for Health.
All Domiciliary Care agencies have the opportunity to be involved.
Please contact Gail.irvine@dynamictraininguk.co.uk to get involved
Involvement can include:
- Managers questionnaire completed online or through one to one call or meeting with project lead
- Staff questionnaire
- Attending a working group in your area
- Project lead attending a staff meetings to discuss needs of the workforce
- Project Lead attending LA Dom Care forums
Initial discussions lean towards the personalisation agenda and how this will affect the home care sector.
Customers have more choice and control over who will provide their services. It is essential that our workforce can meet the ever changing needs of our customers and that training is available that is effective and fit for purpose.
If you are a proactive employer who wishes to meet the ever increasing needs of your customers, please contact Gail.irvine@dynamictraininguk.co.uk or call 01494 429373 for further information on this project
How will the training pathway meet sector training requirements?
All identified workforce needs will be mapped to the new Health and Social Care (QCF) diplomas that will be the training requirement for the sector from Sept 2010. One of the aims of this project is to ensure that all your workforce requirements are realised within the new diplomas. This will be achieved working alongside Skills for Care, Skills for Health and the UKHCA (UK Homecare Association).
For further information about the QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework) which will be replacing the existing NVQ provision supporting vocational education within England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Please visit http://www.dynamictraininguk.co.uk/qcf-advice/
